I don’t know how to feel about this, I mean I didn’t like at all Thor Ragnarok but I did like Jojo Rabbit and Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
If he fails, Denis ‚I’ll do it better’ Vileneuve will make a remake.
Don’t get me wrong, the idea of seeing the wonderful world of Moebius realized on film is really exciting, but I’m not sure about Taika Waititi directing this. His style is very slick, twee, quippy, and meta, and to be honest, his visuals tend to be very flat and bland. I think someone like Jean-Pierre Jeunet or Denis Villeneuve would be a stronger choice.
Difficult but super exciting project. Let’s see what happens with such profusely detailed Moebius worlds and strong characters in the big screen.
My initial reaction was skeptical, but I haven’t read The Incal. Thor Ragnarok was pretty durn kaleidoscopic if he’s planning on making a non-comedy though, maybe he can do it? I would like to see him branch out. Or is The Incal sort of appropriate for his sense of humor?
