Used to drop stuff down there several times a week. Quick run from West London to Vietnam took about 40 minutes. No speed cameras in those days , just in time for a lovely breakfast 😆😆
The first half of the film was far better than the last half. Once they’re out of boot camp, and Vincent D’Onofrio is out of the picture, the picture ceases to be as brilliant.
one of my favorite films. i did a construction job in some remote mountains and all they had in the house we were staying in was this movie on vhs. watched it everyday for a couple weeks and found something new almost every viewing
They filmed it at the old Beckton gas works in East London. I lived in Police barracks just down the river and could hear all the shooting going on in the evening. For years you could go down and walk amongst all the old buildings they’d blown up. They all had lots of Vietnamese writing on them. 😉

Vivo cerca…
wud love to see the making of the film

Kubrick is a master storyteller. This was the most gut-wrenching Vietnam movie ever made.
“And then I made them redo the scene 48 more times and Malcolm finally lost it and started belting out Singing In The Rain.”
“Beckton” one of the sets on Stanley’s film and a real shit hole too and the wonderful Matthew and Stanley.
