The best American Western movie made that represents America. I watched it in 1953 when I was 12 years old. When Russian President Kruschev visited the U.S.A. he was told that if you ever want to understand what America is all about, view the movie “Shane”. He refused.
Great film but horrible costuming choice for Shane at the end. In the book he changes from his farmer attire into his gunfighter attire – black and deadly. The point is that he tried to escape that life but could not – it refused to let him escape his past. The change in clothes was a very important symbolic moment totally lost in the film.
