  1. is that must to remove the existing plastic floor to put the new laminate, or is it okay to put the laminate on top of the plastic?

  2. Question… I'm installing vinyl plank flooring on top of a concrete slab in my study. The vinyl flooring has underlayment attached so there's no "need" to put down underlayment first. However, the vinyl flooring is only 1/4" thick and when compared to the adjacent tile floor (foyer/entry area near front door), the surface height of the vinyl flooring will be about 1/4" lower than the height of the tile floor. Of course, 1/4" doesn't sound like much, but this is a high-end home and I want it to be "perfect". I might be the only person to actually notice this, but since I'll see it every day, I don't want any regrets 🙂
What would be the best way to ensure the vinyl flooring surface is even with the tile floor surface (or at least close). I suppose I could glue down some 1/4" plywood underlayment on the slab, then install the vinyl on top of that. Any recommendations on better options?
    Thanks in advance!

  3. So glad copper was able to help👍 good job team!! I am a very detailed person. In the union trades for over 15 years. And i commence you on your video, i did flooring a very long time ago, thAnks. I did use this video as a guide to help👍👍

  4. I can understand pulling it apart for that corner, if you’re too far in though I’d recommend going ahead with it and glueing ends together so it doesn’t come undone.

  5. Duuuuuuuuuude! You made this look way easier than it's been on my RV renovation. LMAO! Thank you so much for making this video with all the great tips. Really helpful

  6. Ya how about after a few months that thinset will break up over that wood subfloor. That wood subfloor has flex so eventually that thin set will break away from that subfloor

  7. I don't understand why you need to cut underneath the molding if you remove the molding and place the floorboards flush when you replace the molding you won't see whether the floorboards go underneath or not looks like a waste of time

  8. Did you leave all the 1/4" spacers in place? I heard you can use a Barker rod? Like a 1/4 foam to put in between where the spacers go?

  9. Just from learning by doing this job on my house I found it unnecessary to remove the baseboards if you are going from carpet to lvp. The baseboards sit up a lot higher on a carpeted floor and will allow you to just easily slip the planks slightly underneath them. Then, just cover the gap with shoe molding. You'll save yourself a lot of time and hassle. Trust me.

  10. this is a perfect example of how to make a do-it-yourself video awesome. there are way to many very very bad videos out there but this one was very good.

  11. Oh heck!Am v much of a learner DIY'er & now worried I am going to make a complete mess of the job.Don't suggest getting help. That's not an option. And y do the instructions with my product say start in the middle of the room?To me, beginning at the edge as this vid says, makes far more sense.I had no idea the planks would be so heavy!I can only take one pack at a time & that was a struggle.

  12. I love vinyl flooring and have done a few installs. This video still had great tips that I wish I had known before.

For floor vents, I used a circular saw to plunge cut the first line and switched to a jig saw for the rest

  13. I have to raise my floor up inch to match another floor in my house on the main floor so I’m confused on the installation. Do I do concrete flooring/vapor barrier/plywood to raise floor/engineered hardwood or is it concrete/plywood to raise up the floor/vapor barrier/engineered hardwood?

  14. I got a question: How bad an idea is this: hammer down the nails in the tacks, keep the foaming from the previous carpet, lay down a thin layer of ply wood through out, then do peel and stick vinyl floor??? Yes, no? confession….I may be on step 3 of this crazy idea. Going to the store tomorrow to see that the experts at home depot think…
