This is one of those jobs where it's really important to get the holes drilled square. Use a jig, if you don't have a drill press. 4:34
Nice work!!! Looks great. I'm right now looking at three options to hang a 'live edge' slab (shelf)…1) Wrought iron, underneath supporting brackets…2) Hidden shelf bracket like you did here…and 3) Leather straps as a way to hang the shelf. Decisions, decisions. ….whats your thoughts?

Just thinking in order to use these Rockler Blind Shelf Supports, the log supposed to be same or even more than 16" long. usual firewood logs are cut shorter than that. This is what I found immediately when I started taking measurements.
