I think you should be more cautious when handling acetone. Ventilation and PPE are recommended. Great ideas otherwise.
awesome! How deep do you think I can make the intermediate shelve with the single support? I have a 17"w x 10"d shelf I'd like to build.
My hubby salvaged a piece of full 3 x 6 barn beam from a job he was doing. About 7 ft long. Drilled 5 holes into wall studs. Epoxied 8" spikes (heads clipped off) into the holes. Transposed locations to the beam drilled 5 holes. Test fit and then more epoxy. I can park a truck on that mantle now.

Its awesome your wife lets you spend that much time in the garage around all those bad ass tools. Lucky man! My old lady would be trying to get me to clean the kitchen.
On the maple….why did you screw it to the wall frame…little bit of glue and a couple brads…plus on the maple there was a noticeable gap to the wall….scribe it to the wall, it's super easy and much better

For the third example, are the screws at the top needed in that last step or can you just screw the bottom of the shelf? Shame you see screws in the final shelf after all that work! Thanks for the video:)

I had neve thought about making a full frame for the insert, I have just used the struts on a base and attached it to the wall. Pre-drilling makes sense, thank you.
The intermediate shelf , could you make it larger as in coming off the wall further like a ten inch? Or is that not recommended?

Hey Mr. Build It. You did give the wood dimensions for the last shelf. Are they the same as shelf 2 but with miters?

Lol…. a "floating Shelf" with exposed brackets holding it up is literally the exact opposite of a floating shelf.
