If some Parisians were born in 1771 and lived to be well over 100 years old, they would have experienced two empires, an ancien régime, a restoration, three republics, and many uprisings and revolutions.
“…it went like this.
1. Supposing the area *behind* the barricades was bigger than the area in *front* of the barricades, right?
2. Like, sort of, it had more people in it and more of the city, if you follow me.
3. Then, correct me if I’m wrong, sarge, but that’d mean in a manner of speaking we are now in *front* of the barricades, am I right?
4. Then, as it were, it’s not like *we’re* rebellin’, is it? ‘cos there’s *more* of us, so the majority can’t rebel, it stands to reason.
5. So that makes us the good guys. Obviously we’ve been the good guys all along, but now it’d be kind of official, right? Like, mathematical?
6. So we thought we’d push on to Short Street and then we could nip down into Dimwell and up the other side of the river…
7. Are we going to get into trouble for this, sarge?
8. You’re looking at me in a funny way, sarge.
9. Sorry, sarge.”

Yes, there were two French Revolutions. The first was in 1789. The second the Paris Commune in 1871. It is was a communist, Marxist movement.
They dug the stone street sets up, to make the barricades.
Thay had cameras in 1871?
Why are the rifles stacked together like that?
❤️
French Revolution style
I thought it was a street paving crew at first.
That’s alot of ghost. Lol
Amazing photo!
Not a barricade but fortifications, they have cannon set
Too bad they’ve burned down the historical Tuileries Palace during these events…
That would us back for sure
Great photo
Would like to read more related to Paris Commune and Franco-Prussian War
Where did they get cannon? Are we sure this isn’t the soldier’s work? I am not up on this section of history, however
What a great picture!
This is the place where they killed my homie Enjolras
And at the end of the war the king of Prussia was made the Emperor of Germany.
I like how back then, most people were transparent
Fun fact: the Paris commune was the first communist country in existence
Wow! What a photo! I had no idea this kind of record still existed!
Thank you.
What an amazing moment in history. Extraordinary.
If you know where to look, there’s still a lot of old Paris left … some of these photos of streets and buildings could have been taken yesterday. ❤️
