Well considering the way people drive today… if you can call it driving… I call it impatient traveling. The technology had to improve with car seats also. In 1966 the law was passed that every automobile had to be equipped with safety belts for each passenger that the auto could accommodate. No cell phones or dashboard touch screens. Both hands on the wheel at all times. Only exception was a manual transmission operated vehicle. That’s still the law!!!!
I sat on my mothers lap in the front seat, no seatbelt either. by the time I was five I graduated to the trunk of the station wagon in the rear facing seats.
It doesn’t look like it’s that safe. Today’s seats are better than yesterday. More cushions and everything. I prefer the ones we have now. Safer for the babies.
The only thing missing is the steering wheel mounted on a metal shaft, sure to impale the child if an accident ever occurred. How did we all survive? I agree with the previous comments. I think it dates back to the late 50’s.
Still have mine from the 70’s three in one,the seat was used for the push chair, high chair and car seat
Melissa Voorkamp this was you 🤗 Good old 80s
Had one for my oldest daughter and loved it
And we survived
If you were lucky!
Maybe the 60s.
Yes it was
It was
And you were grateful
It sure was.. also in the 60s my little brother sat in one!
This was My Daughters first car seat!
Do you remember the ones with a steering wheel & little horn?
i don’t think we even had that .
Very early 80s I just sat on my mother’s lap
I think this was the 60’s version of carseats

We never had any of those!
We have come a long way on safety ❤️
Didn’t know they had those even.
More like the 50’s and 60’s
Back when cars were built like tanks and people weren’t in such a hurry
I sat on my mothers lap in the front seat, no seatbelt either. by the time I was five I graduated to the trunk of the station wagon in the rear facing seats.
That’s it haven’t seen that in years.

Yes that was it exactly. My daughter, born in 1978 had one just like it.
Not to be confused with Mom’s arm flying across your little body as she is driving!

This was late 50 early 60! My kid was born in mid 70 and had by law to have a car seat much more like todays version
Where is the little horn?
I stood on the front seat between my mom and dad. My mom’s arm was my seat belt. LOL.
Mine was basically a coat hanger with a small piece of mesh in between. Mom’s just basically held on to you as they smoked their Benson and Hedges.
