  1. Glad to see I’m not the only one who can’t stand Tom Cruise. I’ve never seen this film and from these reviews, I never will.

  2. It’s an American remake: It is an English-language adaptation of Alejandro Amenábar’s 1997 Spanish film Open Your Eyes, which was written by Amenábar and Mateo Gil, with Penélope Cruz reprising her role from the original film. She was stunning in that movie.

  3. I really enjoyed this film. The first time I saw this film I actually had missed the start, and it was where Thomas Tip was talking to David Ames in Jail and the train Bells were chiming in…. I believe I reckon I would have seen this film at least 5 times before I understood what was really happening. Just fantastic. I think that the people responsible for making this film wanted me to feel that way. So I really do absolutely love this picture, and I am a big fan. Even now when I put it on, you just go where this film takes you. Doesn’t hurt that I am a big fan of Jason Lee Tom Cruise Cameron Diaz Penelope Cruz Kurt Russell Timothy Spall Tilda Swinton and our Aussie boy Noah Taylor. Every one of those actors plays their part so well.👌

  4. One of the best and disturbing movies i ever seen. And wonderful soundtrack : Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Red House Painters…etc ..

  5. Love this movie, especially the elevator/reveal scene at the end with Doot Doot by Freur playing in the background ❤️

  6. A very misunderstood and misinterpreted film. I do sometimes question the casting but love the premise. I’ve seen the original and find vanilla sky an improvement. I just love the psychological and mystical concepts alongside the romantic notions

  7. I need to re watch these! Been so long since I’ve seen either .. it’s a good movie the original is brilliant tho !!! Open your eyes !

  8. Cameron was amazing in this, Penelope is difficult to understand. I miss Tom in movies like these. I found the story so sad, why he chose to take that ride that changed his life forever..

  9. In the club when Penelope says….. maybe in another life when we are both cats. Which I love so much it has been on my FB profile since I’ve had FB lol I love this movie!

  10. Profound movie… Cruise said certain movies he did made him understand himself better as a Brand Name, and as a Product for the Hollywood Industry, and in turn, made him into a better Actor for the Hollywood Machine… But there were other movies he said, allowed him to let go of his Ego and put a mirror reflection into understanding himself on an inter-personal level, and in turn, made him into a better person… This was one of them… the artist imitating life, and in turn Real Life imitating the Artist… Tom Cruise was already David Aames, he just didn’t know it until reading the end of the script when Cameron Crowe told Tom, “Forget about David for a moment, what would Tom Cruise do in this very moment?” And Tom smiled and said, “I would wanna wake up to the real world and open my eyes” and Cameron said… “We’ve got our movie” ❤

  11. At 1:27.48, Tom Cruose yells “VANILLAS GUY”, throws his hand down and blows the door right off the portA potty he is in. EPIC.

  12. Compared to the original – Open Your Eyes (Spanish: Abre los ojos) 1997 – Vanilla Sky was just a small potato 🙂

  13. for those that said they did not understand it, you were not supposed to. not until the end. it is a mystery. not about murder but life. it would be a shame to watch a murder mystery movie and know the killer before the movie began. the fun is trying to figure out what is going on. all of the confusing aspects of this movie were intentional. if you rewatch the movie, you will find clues along the way to it’s conclusion. the scene to sound delivery was great with an excellent soundtrack helping the story move. radiohead to an empty time square in the middle of the day? just great. that is all
