I think they would’ve both agreed to settle differences promptly. Neither of them were impulsive, but overall I believe Vito was a better leader. Even though Michael was shrewd, Vito aspired much more loyalty in his camp.

They are both smart. But Michael would win because has the nerve. Michael is like Lucky Luciano(smart and ruthless) and Don is Frank Costello(smart but no guts). Michael is that kind of guy that would invite you to a meeting for “making peace” to get you killed and Don is the guy who would actually believe it.
