  1. Yes, you can make it without tools, and that's cool for personal use, for selling you're going to want to get tools. Start with one, one of the most versatile is the table saw. Other than that the stands look nice, I would add some type of soft rubber feet and foam under the monitors (to eliminate resonance), but for editing YT videos I guess this is OK.

  2. It looks fun. I get excited about it. Then I go to Lowes and they say "What kinda wood you want, bud?" and I say "LIKE HERE IN THE VIDEO LET ME SHOW YOU OKAYSOLIKE MEASUREMENTS-" Basically, just buy it if you're not good at this stuff

  3. How well do you think this design would scale? I have a pair of JBL L112 speakers I would love to make a larger version of these for but not sure if it would do well when the speakers weigh 55 lbs (25kg).

  4. So my gf paints wood pieces with acrylic paint. Can anybody recommend a finish that will make the wood pop a little more but is safe for the acrylic paint. I can show her paintings if asked just not trying to promote here.

  5. I kind of did this but I used to plastic milk crates turned on their side I had a little more desktops paste though to work with and then I use the milk crates for cubby holes to hold stuff

  6. After watching this video I went looking to buy the tung oil mentioned as there was no link for it here. Bad news! Formby's (mfg Tung Oil finish Bob used) was purchased by Minwax/Sherwin Williams who then promptly discontinued the Tung Oil and only kept its own formulation which according to them is NOT a low gloss like Formby's. I verified this with Minwax customer service. Needless to say I had a few choice words with them about doing this. I personally, don't want to support a company who's business model is to buy out competitors and promptly ceased production in favor of their own line. Bad move Minwax! Bob, love the speaker stands and all you do!

  7. I made a corner unit shelf to go against the wall on my computer desk. It's extremely sturdy and I made it out of 4 mil MDF using a Stanley knife and strong glue. It cost me less than $10 to make and it's still together 7 years later.
I also made a tree book shelf out of a 2cm thick pine slab. All I used was a pack of screws (about 15 screws), wood glue and an electric drill. You could do the same thing with a screw driver but if you don't predrill the timber, it might split. I got the measurements cut to size at the hardware store. It took a day and a half to put together and cost less than buying one online. And mine is twice the size and I made it to fit in a certain area.
I own a jigsaw, multi tool with attachments to sand and cut wood, electric drill with every drill bit you could imagine, clamps, sand paper….. you name it, I've got it, but you can make anything if you're creative with the tools you have. You can make a lot out of MDF, a screw driver and glue.

  8. I know you said that audio mixing wasn't a thing you did anymore but decoupling makes a big differense! Right now your speakers will resonate throughout the whole table. Rubberfeet or a piece of foam underneath could probably do the trick for now if you won't need 100% decoupling!
