#HowToRemoveRust #RustRemoval #RemovingRustFromTools #HandToolRestoration How To Restore A Stanley Block Plane – 5 Minute Plane Sharpening

Props John for honoring your Pawpaw.
Really nice of you to do that for your grandfather 👍
This was a fabulous…I agree there is great satisfaction reassembling metal tools. I loved how you included grandpa in it!!!!
Brother John- my dad's 85 years old. Duder had a Hell of a time off the boat from Portugal but he did his thing for ages. Some day I'd be stoked to chat it up about that. God knows their's some stores to tell.
Thank you for doing this for your gramps. I bet that mans' stoked to have you be his offspring.
Thanks man. I've been re-doing a lot of older tools to use them and give them to my offspring some day. I appreciate the vids you and your guys do. I just wanted to say that I hope more folks take this stuff to heart before they can't do what we're doing and it's nice to see another person doing something good in this world. 👍🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾🔥🦆
this was a video from the heart! very cool
John; I have been working on getting my dad's adjustable wrenches cleaned up and lubed up so I can use them again. One I am having a "P.I.T.A." with the screw for the thumb wheel will not come out; It turns freely. Not enough space to get even the smallest screwdriver between the thumbwheel and the main part of the wrench
Probably your best video
Loved seeing your grandpa. Honestly him in the thumbnail was the only reason I watched this particular video. Didn’t disappoint either
I don’t even have a grandpa. Great video man it was touchy. 👍🏼
You need to put up a framed Jersey college and pro in your house and shop
When my grandpa died my aunt and her boyfriend came and took everything out of the shed and sold it all for drugs. When my grandma died my 2 aunts and my mom swooped in laid clame to the house tore it up and let it go into foreclosure and split the money 3 ways. For 10 years it was me, my grandma and my grandpa, my mom lived in another state and did drugs till I was 15 same with my aunts. So I basically had my entire life stolen by dope fiends calling themselves family. So I unfortunately can't restore any of my grandfathers tools 😕 I'm hella jealous..
Great video! Plan on doing the same with my grandfather's tools. Some from the early 1900s as well.
Hey John, Great videos!! Just wondering what part of Italy your grandfather was from, both of my grandparents we’re from Italy too.
Greetings from Italy! 🙂 I love your channel and your nonno is very cool! Where does he come from? North? South? Center? 🙂 Ciao!!
On the next tote you make be sure the grain run north to south. THis will prevent it breaking.
I'm amazed that Evapo rust was able to remove so much without scrubing. I think I'll grab some for some old english wheel anvils i need to clean up before I can use.
I need to know where to buy an air hose fitting like that. An air nozzle built in!?! Take my Money!
Interesting your grandad came from Italy but who came from Poland, cause Malecki is a polish name?
Thanks for restoring old tools and sharing gramps from the old country. Epic table builds are awesome but ya can't beat family and memories.
Top
thats so cool, i have my fathers tools that i will cherish forever, your Grandfather is a cool dude
Maybe……. just maybe, consider the kind of handgrip found on older wooden bows (as in bow and arrow), so it is totally personal to your own hand grip?
What a wonderful, unintentional compliment to his Grandfather… "He's 85 and 'getting' old."
Why am I crying
At 5:54 you are using a diamond stone to sharpen a blade. The stone is in an very cool looking holder. Where can one get a stone holder like that one??
Cool video bro. Bring your grandpa on the show more !
I'm sure your grandfather will really appreciate your efforts. Well done, mate
His reaction is priceless. Gramps rocks 👍🏼
You are like a kid in a candy store.
You said dad to ur grandpop and then you said daddy. That’s funny cause that’s what I say when talking to family and I don’t quite know why it just feels like that’s how it should be said I guess it’s because I lost him at a young age. I just thought that was interesting the other grown men still say daddy. Awesome restorations though 👍
That was awesome for you to do that for your Grandpa.
Tears to the eyes
that's some wholesome stuff right here
Honestly silver spoon job ..!!!!
Awesome restore.
When the drills all rusty at the bottom of the box- "look how they massacred my boy?" – Godfather. Great Resto.
Thanks not sure how I missed this when it first was released. I just took over all of my brothers tools that sat in his Florida garage for years and are rusted to hell. Go treat yourself to a Primanti's sandwich. From a Fellow Pittsburgher soon to be a Floridian
Hey John. Really enjoy your channel. My love of tools came from my Grandfather. My very first tool box was hand built by him to me. Next year the tool box turns 50. Thanks for sharing.
restoring old tools is really satisfying and they are better built than a lot of modern tools (unless you are spending a real fortune on the highest quality) and you are totally right, the way metal moving parts go together on these machines is beautiful and soooo satisfying. Oil em up and enjoy them
Beautiful restoration video. I'm glad you're grandpa is still able to help in your shop. I'm sure it means a lot to him to see the things you are doing.
G’day mate. The face you pulled at 6min, when aligning/fitting a part, may mean it’s time for an eye test, lol. All the best from Australia
Both my grandmother's died last year but my grandfather's were basically not in the picture but my step grandfather got me into what I do now he's 78 and just had a blood infection couple months after my grandmother died and now he's getting up there and they have to move out of her house and I just got a bunch of his old tools but in January I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and they said I had it roughly 3 months but my grand mother died roughly 3 months before that so life has been weird with out her but now corona is here
What is the liquid that you put the parts into for treatment ?
I miss my Grandpa. Your very lucky to still have him. Cherish every moment.
Watching this video and thinking wow that’s pretty cool to be able to have those old tools and restore them back to working order and get more use out of them; it’s an awesome experience. My grandfather passed away a year ago and he was a retired tool and die maker (Delco, Pratt and Whitney) he also was an accomplished woodworker and had a garage shop that has just a wealth of tools in it, from tools he hand made himself, to the cabinets they went in, to the cabinets and furniture in his house all made by him. I was fortunate enough to be willed that shop, I’m starting the process of going through everything in there, cleaning it up and it just blows my mind the kind of things that I’m finding and the shape that they are in. Mint!!! I can’t wait to start to use those tools again and start making the things that he made, and you yourself make, Ive started watching your videos and have been getting the inspiration to start doing these things, thank you so much for the videos you make and the things you do! It’s awesome!
I have a few hand planes, drills, and chisels from my grandfather and now I can’t wait to restore them. Time to put them to use!
Love this one. My grandfather died when I was around 2 years old, needless to say I only have a couple of memories of him. My grandpa was an excellent craftsman who could pretty much make/build anything. He had a Midas touch to say the least. He was a pilot, farmer, rancher, miner, etc. Everything he did he made money doing. I wound up with a box of his hand tools, my prized possessions. Count your blessings you still have your grandfather, he seems amazing! Learn all you can time is fleeting. Thanks for sharing your grandpa with us.
