  1. If you were looking for a visual confirmation of what you DON'T want your project to end up looking like, this is most definitely it.The absolute WORST looking outcome of all the YT "retaining wall" videos. This guy's got NOTHING to offer. Period.

  2. I hate to be the stick in the mud but this wall is crooked – I would have placed a dry concrete mix into the trench, level it out and spray with water – 1st row of blocks set level in mortar then next row with construction glue all dead straight on the string line go up to 3 or 4 blocks finish with capping stone

  3. It aint rocket surgery………. I say if you REALLY want the stone wall to not fall over or lean or move, use a concrete footing…… Crazy talk…….

  4. I have worked in landscape construction for a long time now and I don't recommend following the steps in this video. There is way more that goes into building a wall correctly. Don't ever use sand; it will wash away with moisture – making blocks uneven. You have to fill the blocks with gravel to ensure stability and strength, the wall should be backfilled with a drain rock that allows moisture to pass through, and drainage pipe must be added at the bottom course to ensure distribution of moisture – rather than build-up behind the wall. In addition, levelling should be done with a longer level that stretches across multiple bricks. This ensures that the slope does not change drastically from one end to the other.

  5. The wall is crooked, i can see if from this video, and those block need to be fill with gravel and lay in gravel. For been your first wall it its aright job. Sand is not really need for walls, but rather for patios, in my case.

  6. No geo-grid, no core filling, no 3/4 inch drainage stone… That wall is not going to last long. Please do more research before you start telling people how to waste their money on a dangerous installation

  7. Good rookie attempt!! The end when He is sittingon the wall bottom right needs some work. Should watched a video on how to step up a block for elevation and stager the blocks.

    Good job overall though

  8. It would be great if there was a video somewhere on how to maintain/repair a backyard retaining wall or garden wall. I have retaining wall about 2-3 blocks high and it needs to be pressure washed and or repaired?
