  1. Epoxy grout is f__king AWESOME. Well worth the surcharge. And they say "mix the whole bucket", but realistically, as long as you can figure out the ratio-by-weight, there's no problem with smaller batches.

  2. the point of the thin set grooves all being one direction for tile, is you place the tile. and wiggle it opposite those groves, so they flatten. so if they run horizontal. You wiggle up and down…smooshing the grooves/getting air out. if the grooves are vert… you wiggle side to side to collapse them. otherwise… you may find your tiles don't adhere.

  3. Kerdi wants the 2" overlap so that the water doesn't migrate through the thinset via capillary action. You probably should have overlapped the membrane into the niche a little, as the joint there between the niche and the membrane is only the width of the flanges on the plastic niche. You'll probably be fine, but I would keep an eye on that area.

I am not a tile installer nor a contractor, but I do have a kerdi kit on the way to my house right now and have been researching walk in shower construction for months while working on the rest of the remodel.

Your place is getting more and more amazing every day!

  4. If you has centered the niche and tiled from the center of the niche outwards the tiles would have looked amazing but it looks really good, Like you did with the shower faucet.

  5. Just found this channel and series… I wish I could have seen more information on the actual installation of the concrete counter top.

  6. Never used that membrane. Concrete board and mortar and tile and grout is quite waterproof enough, unless you are filling a shower to the top with water.
How tall are you? That counter is below crotch height, which as a short person, would be around 30" off the ground.

  7. with such a Massive Shower room really surprised you didn't go with a full vertical shower with 100 nozels/Led's in the ceiling itself, always been my dream to have one of those in my first house but sadly not yet , nice work though !

  8. Not going to lie, that toilet looks lame and janky next to your magnificent work 🙂 Maybe one of the toilet manufacturers could hook you up with one that matches the color and design of your awesome sink?..

  9. I've watched your loft video..well done for for that..you've made one of your dreams come true, so I think ! But most of all you put your heart in the right place again, that is, whatever you are buildind you will have more time to enjoy family and friends and thats is really important! And I wish you all the best at this new place !

  10. I'm late to the party and just found your channel and I really like it…. but this hurts a little…. that roll of toilet paper…..needs to change ASAP

  11. Hello there, I have requested your DVDs, for simpler and quicker approach to manufacture a shed woodplans.works I trust the substance are as you guaranteed it will be. Just I'm worried with the substance, it won't be anything but difficult to settle on a decision from the various plans.

  12. Can anyone in the business answer something for me?
How well will that foam floor and step hold up over time? If the foam has flex, but the tile above does not, can it break?
I always kinda step on my ledge getting in and out for some reason, should I not do that?
Basically I’m just surprised to see foam used as a structural material in the floor and ledge. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

  13. This is a common mistake
You mean it's Damascus PATTERN steel, IT IS NOT Damascus steel !!!
I repeat IT IS NOT Damascus steel !!! IT IS Damascus PATTERN steel !!!!

  14. I think the hexagonal tiles on the floor will also provide more traction so theres less of a chance of slipping in the shower than if you used the white tiles.
