  1. I sincerely wish there were more realistic evaluations of these people! They WERE regular human beings after all! Absolutely UNIQUE? YES! Depressingly human? You betcha!!!

  2. Thank you so much for sharing the brief history of this extraordinary photographer Edward Sheriff Curtis.
His images bring to life what is shamefully only briefly touched on in history in schools.
The proud, resourceful, hardworking men and women supporting themselves off the land. Exceptionally good looking men and women, beautiful complexions, great bone structure wonderful skin. Allowing their beautiful children and babies to be photographed is a treasure. The skill of the women who beaded those beautiful designs. Photos of their ceremonial masks and garb, items that would have been sacred allowed to be photographed and shared. The carvings on the boat used to transport the guests to a wedding ( Vancouver) is again an example of their craftsmanship and artistic ability, Thank you again for sharing.

  3. Sadly, much of the Native American history and culture has been lost. Recently, I read “Voices of Navajo Mothers and Daughters: Portraits of Beauty.” It helped me understand their lives and traditions, and I’m glad their personal histories are being preserved.

  4. Growing up, I always found it odd that we could learn this language and that language in school…but among them, there was no Native American language. As a curious teen, I would have jumped at the chance to learn an Aboriginal language if only that had been offered.
