I studied latin american history and civilizations, don’t take this fiction as any reflection of Mayan culture although they use Chontal (the Mayan language) in the film…it’s simply Rambo in pre-mesoamerican Yucatan….there were no mass sacrifices (that was the Mexica in central mexico) when the Spanish arrived they would have found forest and overgrowth jungle, the classic Maya disappeared in the 9c….nice visuals though but the story was running man in the era of the Maya.
