  1. Over throw the Shah and go back to living in the 12th century taking your governance based on a book written in 650…. Yea they really showed us. Have at it Afghanistan.

  2. These are the world running powers ( America,France,Russia,Britain etc) changing the world, people, nations, culture for their interests.
These hypocratic powers did in Afghanistan, Iran, Libnana etc.
These powers are responsible for what is going on in Afghanistan

  3. “depicting the AfghaN’S everyday life…” (we don’t use “Afghani” as an adjective but Afghan 🙂 although Afghani is the currency)

  4. Unfortunately Communism came and then the American along with it building up extremism and fanaticism to religion

  5. We are used to think that the future will only bring progress. In Afghanistan, Iran and many others things are quite the oposite…

  6. Everyone went to plunder Afghanistan
-nobody had true intentions to help-ever!.no wonder it’s called d Valley of Death!

  7. Ten days. “Despite 20 years of outside support, billions of dollars of funding, an extensive programme of training and US air support, the Afghan security forces largely collapsed.”

  8. Citizens of Afghanistan are referred to as Afghans (In Afghanistan). Afghanis are the monetary unit of money they use. This should be corrected in the description of the photo.

  9. In my country we see the pics very near to these from the 60’s on urban centers. But my father’s family had to fight starvation on country in the same on that time. Today when a see a pic lime this I always ask myself is it actually represent the person’s life.

  10. This should be a reality check for America. We, too, are quickly on our way to becoming a third world country. Drive through Dallas County and look at the tents. Look at the dollar stores and slums. See it objectively.

It’s painful, and often the truth does hurt.

  11. And now they are being forced back in time because religious fanatics. So sad. Hope our fanatics, (no matter what name they hide under). are never allowed that power or control. jomo

  12. And now Afghan women have been pushed back into the Stone Age by a fundamentalist medieval religion. A cautionary tale about the separation of church and state.

  13. Wow better times for women for sure. How come they go backwards now their religion is messing them up period!🤔🙀🤔

  14. My aunt went to medical school in Afghanistan in the 1960’s. She practiced for many years as an OBGYN in Germany. The Russian invasion destroyed the kingdom of Afghanistan.

  15. This is such a beautiful picture, but so sad to realize this belongs to the past… How is this even possible in 2022…..

  16. They have been working on this since before GE installed Reagan as their choice. We have been groomed for years. FOX, greed, and apathy are our Waterloo.

  17. I don’t like to see women thrown back to the Middle Ages. I hope there is a world wide acceleration of equality for women and an end to suppression and violence against them.

  18. Our human race is going backwards. We are too clever for our own good and at the same time too stupid. Human constructs by power crazy individuals and groups are just devastating 😓

  19. In many ways not much has changed. Street scenes look very much like that still except you will never see women in western dress. I have been inside the now ruined Queen’s Palace. A pity. Afghanistan is a beautiful country destroyed by war and religious zealots

  20. This is not an accurate and even a misleading description. Daily life of few secular urbanites looked like this- not the life of majority of Afghanis.

What we generally miss in the West about Muslim countries (Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, etc) is that while before the current regimes they had secular inner city elites (like in the picture, and Turkey and Iran still do to an extent), the countryside and the majority were not secularized/western urbanites- they were (and are) religious conservatives. Secular/westernized inner city elites were always the minority in these countries.
